The Captain Planet Foundation recently announced the Funding for Youth Environmental Projects. The grant applications are due on May 31, September 30, and January 15 of each year. We would like to create a partnership with your organization for this grant!
The goal is to fund and support hands-on environmental projects for children and youth. The Captain Planet Foundation primarily makes grants to U.S.-based schools and organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $3 million.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) recently announced The Green Acres Program Fund Opportunity. The $1 million dollars will be distributed among trail related projects. The applications are due on Wednesday February 15, 2012. IMTrails would like to create a partnership with your organization for this grant.
The mission of Green Acres is To achieve, in partnership with others, a system of interconnected open spaces, whose protection will preserve and enhance New Jersey’s natural environment and its historic, scenic, and recreational resources for public use and enjoyment.

Allamuchy Township received a New Jersey Trail grant from Warren and Hunterdon counties. In the 26 acre of land, a boardwalk, parking lots, and a variety of trails will be constructed.

A single trail in the Lake County Forest Preserve in Illinois will have 40 solar lights posted along the trail. The solar fixtures, which during the day gather a charge lasting up to 10 hours, will provide more of a puddle of light as a guide along the 14-foot-wide path.

Trail cameras were mostly used by hunters and wildlife researchers, but recently many homeowners are buying trail cams. It is attached to a tree or pole and takes images of nearby wildlife. The more advanced cameras can take more detailed pictures. This is becoming popular because homeowners want to see the creatures that pass by their homes.

In Alabama, the Cherokee Rock Village Park has been approved for a $100,000 grant and the Pinhoti Trail in Cherokee County has been approved for a $4,200 grant. The Recreational Trails Grant Program, part of the Federal Highway Administration, funds projects for walking and hiking, bicycling, boating and paddling, horseback riding and other uses.
